Queen Creek 46-Series Cylindrical Battery Plant

LG Energy Solution is building a 46-Series cylindrical EV-battery plant in Queen Creek, Arizona. The facility represents a $3.2 billion investment and is expected to create approximately 1,500 permanent jobs by 2027. LG reported in April 2025 that construction was about halfway complete, with sample production targeted for mid-2026 and commercial production expected by the end of 2026. This record intentionally excludes the separately planned $2.3 billion Arizona ESS/LFP facility, which LG placed on hold; it does not use the former $5.5 billion combined-complex figure.

Why it matters

The battery manufacturing context.

Battery manufacturing has become one of the largest concentrations of new industrial investment in the United States. A network of cell plants is taking shape across the Midwest and Southeast, connecting automakers, battery producers, critical-material suppliers and energy-storage markets. Federal production incentives have accelerated that build-out, while the next test will be whether announced capacity converts into sustained domestic production.
