Group14 BAM-2 Battery Materials Factory

Group14 is building its BAM-2 factory in Moses Lake to manufacture silicon-carbon material used in rechargeable battery anodes. The material is designed to increase the energy batteries can store and improve charging performance. Construction began in April 2023. The initial two-module project combines $223 million in company investment with $100 million in federal funding and was announced with 200 operating jobs. Group14's current facility update says construction and commissioning continue, with full production expected in 2027.

AFT records $323 million: $223 million in company investment plus the separately identified $100 million federal grant, counted once. Group14's separate silane gas plant in Moses Lake is not included. 200 announced operating jobs for the first two modules. Construction employment is excluded. This is not a verified current headcount.

Why this project qualifies

With $323 million in facility-specific investment and 200 permanent operating jobs announced, this project clears both of AFT's qualifying thresholds ($100 million in facility-specific investment OR 100 permanent operating jobs). It is also confirmed by official public sources and involves a physical manufacturing facility in the United States.
