Nampa Manufacturing Facility

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories announced more than $150 million in investment to establish electronic-device manufacturing in an existing 103,000-square-foot building in Nampa, Idaho. The investment covers the building and manufacturing equipment. The facility will produce devices that protect, monitor and control critical infrastructure, including power grids, and is initially expected to create approximately 250 manufacturing jobs. Operations are expected in 2027. AFT records the conservative $150 million investment floor and 250 announced jobs. This project is separate from SEL's Boise, Post Falls and other manufacturing expansions.

Why this project qualifies

With $150 million in facility-specific investment and 250 permanent operating jobs announced, this project clears both of AFT's qualifying thresholds ($100 million in facility-specific investment OR 100 permanent operating jobs). This project also meets AFT's primary-source verification and physical U.S. manufacturing-footprint requirements.

Why it matters

The electrical equipment & grid context.

Electrical Equipment & Grid tracks major U.S. factories producing the equipment required to generate, transmit, control, and distribute electricity — including transformers, switchgear, generators, turbines, cables, and other grid components. It distinguishes equipment manufacturing from power generation, utility construction, energy production, and service-only projects.
