Spark Therapeutics, a Roche Group member, announced an initial $575 million Gene Therapy Innovation Center on Drexel University's F Lot at 30th and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on December 17, 2021. The initial 500,000-square-foot, six-story building is Roche's Philadelphia-based global center of excellence for gene-therapy manufacturing and includes fit-out cGMP manufacturing suites alongside clean research laboratories and administrative offices. AFT records the independently announced $575 million facility investment because manufacturing is a defined, owned component of the project; it does not allocate the capital among manufacturing, laboratories and offices.
