FUJIFILM Biotechnologies' (formerly FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies — the brand FUJIFILM adopted on June 2, 2025, and still the legal entity name, under which the original 2021 and 2024 announcements were made) large-scale, end-to-end cell culture biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility at the Oakview Innovation Business Campus in Holly Springs, Wake County, North Carolina — the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO facility in North America. Announced March 18, 2021 at $2 billion with 725 highly skilled jobs (scientists, engineers, manufacturing and supply-chain staff) targeted by the end of 2028; groundbreaking was held October 14, 2021, and the site celebrated its grand opening September 24, 2025, entering commercial operation with eight 20,000-liter mammalian cell-culture bioreactors (finished-goods/fill-finish capability scheduled to come online in 2026). This record captures only FUJIFILM's first-phase facility capital and jobs. Excluded to prevent double counting: the separately tracked April 2024 $1.2B / 680-job second-phase expansion, the cumulative more-than-$3.2B campus total and the rounded ~1,400-jobs-by-2031 campus goal. Customer capacity commitments hosted inside this FUJIFILM-owned site — Johnson & Johnson's $2 billion ten-year agreement (~120 jobs), Regeneron's $3 billion ten-year deal and the argenx manufacturing partnership — are supplier contracts, not FUJIFILM facility investment, and are excluded, as are the approximately 5,000-plus construction jobs and North Carolina/Wake County/Holly Springs incentives (including the JDIG of up to $19.72 million).

Pharmaceutical manufacturers are committing billions to new U.S. production capacity for active ingredients, injectable medicines, biologics and other high-demand treatments. North Carolina and Indiana remain major centers of investment, while new facilities are being planned across the South.
