Bowling Green Gigafactory

Envision AESC is constructing a Bowling Green EV battery-cell gigafactory with a $2 billion investment and 2,000 new skilled full-time jobs. Kentucky confirmed groundbreaking on August 30, 2022. The original early-2025 opening target has passed; AESC's current facilities material still identifies the plant as Under Construction, but no revised authoritative opening date has been published. AFT therefore leaves the structured opening date blank rather than invent a replacement schedule.

Why it matters

The battery manufacturing context.

Battery manufacturing has become one of the largest concentrations of new industrial investment in the United States. A network of cell plants is taking shape across the Midwest and Southeast, connecting automakers, battery producers, critical-material suppliers and energy-storage markets. Federal production incentives have accelerated that build-out, while the next test will be whether announced capacity converts into sustained domestic production.
