New clinical-manufacturing facility at AstraZeneca's Gaithersburg, Maryland campus, announced November 21, 2025, dedicated to the development and clinical supply of innovative molecules for medical trials, expected fully operational in 2029. The Gaithersburg building was acquired via a $60 million lease transfer of a former headquarters building. AFT records 100 new permanent highly skilled jobs. Investment is intentionally recorded as undisclosed/unallocated: the combined $2 billion Maryland package (approximately $1.81 billion capex) across Frederick and Gaithersburg is not split by any AstraZeneca or Maryland primary record, so AFT does not invent a split or attribute the whole package to one site; both Maryland facilities are tracked through their independently qualifying permanent-job commitments. Excluded: the 400 retained existing roles, the approximately 1,000 construction jobs, the $60 million lease-transfer acquisition cost, the unallocated $2 billion package figure, Maryland's 10% investment match, and AstraZeneca's July 2025 $50 billion U.S. rollup.
