AstraZeneca's $445 million specialty-pharmaceutical manufacturing expansion at its Coppell, Texas site — the company's sole global manufacturing facility for Lokelma (hyperkalemia), distributed to more than 50 countries. The expansion, unveiled October 15, 2025, adds a new 9,000-square-foot building with two new manufacturing lines and supporting drug-substance/drug-product laboratory testing, warehousing, expanded manufacturing utilities and administrative space, doubling global Lokelma capacity. Jobs: AstraZeneca did not publicly commit a firm incremental permanent-job figure; a single local report cited approximately 30 skilled roles, which is unconfirmed by the company, so AFT records zero new permanent jobs. Excluded: the existing workforce of more than 250 (retained, not newly created), the ~30 unconfirmed reported roles, and AstraZeneca's November 2024 $3.5 billion and July 2025 $50 billion U.S. rollups, which are not counted as project capital.
